    I’m still gathering my initial radios and would appreciate any advice, wisdom, and feedback I can get. I have ~$200 in Amazon gift certificates collected and looking to invest in a mobile rig that I might also use in my study/home office.

    I currently have a Baofeng UV-5R which I think I’ve successfully programmed and an Anytone AT-D878UV which I’m frankly trying to figure out how to program and use. For now I’m probably good on HTs, so I was hoping for something to put in my pickup or to setup at home.

    I’m not expecting HF, but a good UHF/VHF starter radio with decent power sure would be nice.

    I ended up getting an AnyTone AT-778UV. Trying to program it to get on tonight’s Net.

    After doing some research on Amazon (where I had enough credit to buy a radio and a DC power supply) I ended up buying an AnyTone AT778-UV. The programming cable that came with it didn’t work so $50 later, I got a working cable from rtSystems and set the radio up in my study as a mobile base unit.
