Hey CARC and area friends of Amateur Radio!
We’re planning for the Harbison 50k and need VOLUNTEERS!
Here are the details you’ll need at this point:
When – Saturday, January 7th
Where – Harbison State Forest
Pre-event meeting – via Zoom the night before!
Race Start – 7:30 am from the field in front of the gazebo.
The primary frequency will be 146.400 simplex – make sure you have a good antenna
The secondary frequency will be 147.330 2m
Remember, this is an ANYTHING GOES, BE READY event.
We’ve had freezing weather, flood, rain, snow, and spring temps in the 9 previous years we’ve supported this event. Who knows what 2023 will bring?
You must be able to get yourself and your equipment to your assigned position.
Some positions will be able to close early. Because this is a loop run, once the runners have completed the 2nd loop past your post, you’ll be able to request dismissal from Net Control. For many of you, this will still be well after lunch. For most of us, it will mean 2 pm – 6 pm.
The event provides a sweep runner. He will sweep behind the last runner THE ENTIRE RACE. We will be tracking him the entire time.
You can start preparing your gear, drinks, snacks, tarps, boots, flashlights, etc. You’re going to need them.
This is one of the best and most demanding events to work each year!!
Please contact me at [email protected] if you’re interested in supporting this event this year
