Columbia Amateur Radio March 2024 Meeting: Go-Box and HAM Car Show Night

The March meeting will focus on Go-Boxs and mobile rigs. An amateur radio go box, also known as a go kit, jump kit, or EMCOMM box, is a box that contains all of the necessary radio equipment. It’s a complete shack in a box with pre-connected equipment, preferably with batteries.

ZOOM DETAILS ARE BELOW

Go boxes are used in many portable operations, including:

  • ARRL Field Day
  • EmComm disaster relief
  • Public service events
  • POTA or WWFF/KFF park activations
  • Island activations
  • Boy and Girl Scout merit badge weekends
  • Talk to Santa Claus events
  • Lighthouse activations

A go box should contain a valid amateur radio license, a functioning radio setup, and, optionally, other related gear. The setup includes a radio, power supply, antenna, feedline, and possibly an antenna tuner.

Show us your Go-Boxes and portable gear!
