Michael (KF4W) Teacher at Midlands Stem Charter School with Student on the Air
Every February and October, School Clubs all around the country get on the air and try to work as many contacts as possible. Groups are broken down into Elementary, Middle, High School, and Colleges.
This past October, Jim (W4JLP) and Garry (K4HGA) came up to Winnsboro to help get Midlands STEM Charter School on their air. Michael (KF4W) has been working to get a radio club established at his school for the past few years, but this October it finally happened.
We had very humble results, only 12 QSOs, but the students had a blast. Our school club scored first place in the Elementary division. The highlights were working at their first Canadian station, and their first DX station in Europe.
We are always looking for more ways to help youth get interested in Amateur Radio, and ensure the future of our hobby.
