|Recurring Event (See all)
An event every week that begins at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, repeating until January 25, 2022
Winlink allies,2 things:1) Winlink localEarlier this week, a Winlink RMS node was successfully installed in East Columbia; it is now operational 24/7. This node is accessible on frequency 145.530 using callsign W1GTT-11 or W1GTT-6 as a digipeater relay station. This location will (hopefully) improve access for stations Northeast, East and Southeast of Columbia interested in making contacts using Winlink VARA FM modes.2) Winlink Tuesday, Interest? We have a number of radio station operators who are fairly new to Winlink and VARA who want to practice their skose learning or practicing VARA FM if stations with digipeater capability would be willing to leave their stations on and accessible to determine who can reach whom and via which relay stations. So, here’s a suggestion:For anyone interested in helping with this effort, if any of you/us can leave your station set up as a digipeater Tuesday afternoons for the remainder of December and January (12.21.21 – 1.25.22), that would be extremely helpful. That’s the next 6 Tuesdays, not for the entire day, but just between 2:00 PM and 10:00 PM, or any portion of that – even if it’s only 2 or 3 hours. This could also be an opportunity for stations to practice Winlink VARA P2P, but that would require some coordination between participating stations.RSVP to email@example.com) I am interested in helping and I’d be willing to leave my station operating as a digipeater for some part of Winlink Tuesday – Yes or No?2) I am interested in practicing VARA FM P2P and I’m willing to be contacted to make arrangements. – Yes or No?Your comments/suggestions are welcome. Here’s a link with more information: Vara FM Stations – South Carolina Amateur Radio Emergency Services (ares-sc.org)73,Mark GoddardKN4KRZ
