Hams needed for Tour de Midlands

tourdemidlands2010082large

Thank you all for volunteering to work the Tour de Midlands event this coming Saturday. We’ve slotted everyone for their initial assignments which means things CAN change but we’re hoping only slightly. I’ve copied a few extra folks because we could still use some additional help with this event.

For this event, here are your reminders:

  1. Tour de Midlands – Annual fundraiser the Lexington Greenways Alliance
  2. Saturday, May 11th
  3. Lexington High School start/finish
  4. NO PRE-EVENT MEETING – see spreadsheet for your time to be on station
  5. Pre-program 147.210+ pl 156.7hz (Little Mountain Repeater)
  6. Riders all leave at different times. 7am, 7:30am, and 9am
  7. T-shirts available for hams before/after the event – individually

Please note that the GPS coordinates on the spreadsheet are the same as last year. If they were correct last year, they’re still correct. Otherwise, you’re on your own!

Please check for your assignment in the spreadsheet. You’ll notice that I’ve also added the corresponding TdM volunteer and cell number as we’ll be working in tandem with them. Please respect everyone’s privacy by not sharing the cell numbers of those on the spreadsheet.

Please be prepared to follow the road markings as you drive!!! Each volunteer is responsible for printing their own maps/cue sheets (once we confirm accuracy). Let me know if this is a problem and I’ll try to have some spares available at the school.

Last year all riders were in by 1:30pm and we were all able to enjoy a wonderful lunch at the school. Please use this as a gauge but do not expect to be done by this time unless you’ve been assigned to a rest stop that will be released earlier.

As always, please be prepared with your own snacks, drinks, sunscreen, bug spray, etc based on your assigned location. Like the Boy Scouts, we should be prepared. As ham radio operators, we provide vital communications for the directors and should always be focused on rider safety and well-being.
